There is a simple and Free way to position your website on the first page of Google.
This is not one of those sales pitched with hollow promises of first page placement, nor is it a new and cheeky way of tricking anyone, especially Google into obtaining a high placement.

Google Local Business centre is a free business listing that is presented as part of Google’s search results when people search for a business type i.e. web designer for a specific location.
So if you perform a search for ‘Internet Marketing in Bexley’ on Google, Local business results are displayed at the top of the first page. You can see form the screen capture below that the local business results are even displayed above the ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ listings on the results page.

As this is a service provided by Google itself, it is also a completely ethical means of placing the website for your business on the top of Google’s search results……and who does not want to be top of Google?
So enough talking. You will want to know how to do this! The good news is it is really simple and can be done in 4 easy to follow steps:-
- Visit the Google Local Business Center (you may need to alter your location at the top right of the page) and click “Add new business” button
- Complete the forms with all the details of your business relevant to your business listing. These include location, the selection of up to 5 business categories, opening hours and additional information such as areas, served.
- In order to confirm your location, Google will send you a postcard via post that ill include a verification code.
- Follow the instructions on the postcard to verify and publish your listing.
After following these simple steps you have every chance of achieving a top listing on Google for people searching for “[your product or service] in [your location, town or city]“.
And as if all this was not good enough, your listing will also be displayed in results on Google Maps for people searching for businesses.
